There are mainly three different types of soil present on the Earth’s surface which are igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, and metamorphic rocks. The classification of rocks are based mainly upon the rock formation, their chemical and mineral composition, texture, and particle size.
About Different Types of Rocks:
1. Igneous Rocks: The igneous rocks are formed by solidification of lava or magma and the most common example include pumice, basalt, and granite.
2. Sedimentary Rocks: The sedimentary rocks are formed by deposition and cementation of rocks and minerals within the water bodies and at the surface of the Earth. A few common examples include sandstone, limestones, rock salt, etc.
3. Metamorphic Rocks: The last rock type i.e. metamorphic rocks which are formed by being deep beneath the Earth’s surface, subjected to high temperatures and the great pressure of the rock layers above it. Example of metamorphic rocks are marble, quartzite, slate, etc.
